Springfield survives Valley comeback, wins 4-2Haverhill-North 1 Sat, Nov 17, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Valley Junior Warriors tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Springfield Pics would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2. A goal by Zachary Smith put Springfield up 4-1 in the second period, but Valley pulled to within two on Rory OConnor's tally 6:24 into the third period. The Pics were led by William Carrabino, who finished with one goal. Carrabino scored 12:35 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Springfield. Matthew Antonacci provided the assist. Springfield excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Junior Warriors were unable to stop the Pics from sending pucks towards the net, and Springfield eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The Pics got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Springfield also got a goal from Logan Schinabeck as well. Other players who recorded assists for Springfield were Joe Mercadante, Conner Brochu, and Mario Fontanella, who contributed two a piece. Valley forced Springfield goalie Ian Milosz to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Junior Warriors were helped by Andrew Sousa, who grabbed one goal. Sousa scored 13:51 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Springfield. Mitchell Moran picked up the assist. More assists for Valley came via Matthew Culot, who had one. Milosz rejected 39 shots on goal for the Pics. Springfield incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Matt Pearless recorded 32 saves for Valley. The Junior Warriors incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
