New Hampshire downs Islanders in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Skate 3 Arena - Red Rink Fri, Nov 16, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The New Hampshire Jr Monarchs pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over Islanders on a clutch goal by Ross Mandigo. Islanders could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. New Hampshire made it 3-1 on a goal by Shane Tracy at 1:10 in the third period. Islanders got to within 3-2 on a power play goal by Keith Barnaby at 5:57 in the third period. The Jr Monarchs kept Islanders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Kitts made 38 saves on 43 shots. New Hampshire's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. The Jr Monarchs average 1.6 goal allowed per game. Michael Fabie also scored for New Hampshire. Other players who recorded assists for New Hampshire were Christopher Moquin, who had three and Eric Grover, Timothy Ward, Connor Merrick, Nate OBrien, and Brett Boyer, who each chipped in one. New Hampshire was unable to stop Islanders from sending pucks towards the net, and Islanders eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Islanders could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Islanders was helped by RJ Tiorano, who finished with two goals. Tiorano scored the first of his two goals at 7:09 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Christopher Maksut assisted on the tally. Tiorano's next tally made the score 4-3 Islanders with 9:44 left in the third period. Justin Fisher picked up the assist. Islanders additionally got points from Cody Reagan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Islanders came via Thomas Missert, who had two. Cole Burack recorded 34 saves for the Jr Monarchs. New Hampshire incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Islanders registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
