Farabee's goals lift Syracuse to 5-2 victory over Buffalo

The Syracuse Junior Stars relied on the scoring touch of Jesse Farabee, who netted four goals, to beat the Buffalo Stars, 5-2.

Farabee got on the scoresheet 12:37 into the second period. He then added goals at 4:29 into the third, at 11:03 into the third, and at 16:44 into the third.

Syracuse pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes.

The Junior Stars' offense rang up 47 shots on Buffalo's net. Syracuse capitalized on the Stars' penalties, netting three goals while skating with a man advantage.

Syracuse also got points from Mike Seifert, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Syracuse were Anthony Angello, who had two and Kyle Bird, Nate Zweig, and Garth Gray, who each chipped in one.

Buffalo forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The Stars surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Junior Stars were unable to stop Buffalo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Stars eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Buffalo was helped by Pavel Kovtunov, who registered one goal. Kovtunov scored 2:05 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Syracuse. Patrick Schmelzinger assisted on the tally. Buffalo also got a goal from John Colvin as well. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Kyler Johnson and Leo Blore, who contributed one a piece.

Nate Skidmore rejected 35 shots on goal for Syracuse. Thomas Brown recorded 42 saves for the Stars. Buffalo registered one goal on six power play opportunities. The Stars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brandon Boyle was ejected from the game.
