Yates' hat trick boosts Bay State over Springfield, 7-0Rockland Arena Sun, Nov 11, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Springfield Pics could not stop the Bay State Breakers' Gavin Yates, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-0 win. Yates got on the scoresheet 13:46 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:51 into the second and at 19:53 into the second.Redmund Hunt frustrated Springfield's offense all game, and stopped 33 shots en route to a shutout. Hunt certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 0.66 entering the contest. Bay State was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Breakers gives up 2.4 goals on average per game. Bay State forced the Pics goalie Ian Milosz to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Breakers' goal total was higher than their season average. Bay State has scored at the pace of 4.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of the Breakers were also effective in Springfield's zone, and came away with three goals. Bay State also got points from Kevin Sheehan, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Ryan ODonnell, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Bradley Power, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. Ryan Dunn also scored for Bay State. More assists for Bay State came via Cullen Hussey, who had one and Christopher Duffy and Nicholas Russo, who each chipped in two. The Pics put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Bay State to score on any of its three power plays. Springfield was held below its usual level of production. The Pics average 3.4 goals per game. Springfield's offense rang up 33 shots on the Breakers' net. Bay State incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Ian Milosz made 33 saves for the Pics on 40 shots. Springfield incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
