Koproske leads Springfield over Adirondack, 7-3

Behind a great game by Stefan Koproske, who had one goal and two assists, the Springfield Pics defeated the Adirondack Junior Wings, 7-3.

Koproske scored on the power play 46 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Springfield. Adirondack had taken the advantage when Springfield's Mario Fontanella got sent off for hooking. Andrew Bourdeau assisted on the tally. Matt Flynn dished an assist on Bourdeau's goal that made the score 5-3 Springfield at 14:40 into the third period.

In a losing effort, the Junior Wings were led by Flynn, who tallied two goals and one assist. Flynn scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 1:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Springfield. Bourdeau provided the assist. Flynn's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 9:25 left in the third period. Adirondack had gained a power play chance when Conner Brochu was whistled for hooking. Sam Vincent assisted on the tally.

The Pics forced the Junior Wings' netminders to work without much rest, taking 46 shots and forcing 39 saves. Chet Tooker made 26 stops and Crae Messer made 13. Springfield found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Pics average 3.7 goals per contest. Springfield was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of 10 man advantages. The Pics found themselves short handed often, totaling 56 penalty minutes and allowing 17 power plays.

Springfield additionally got points from Brandon Korytko, who also had one goal and one assist, Logan Schinabeck, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Nicholas Sibilia, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Matthew Antonacci, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Christopher Sattler also scored for Springfield. In addition, Springfield received assists from Thane Schinabeck, who had one and Jeremy Wich and William Carrabino, who each chipped in two.

Adirondack kept Springfield's goalie busy throughout the game, and Randall Smith made 31 saves on 34 shots. The Junior Wings were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 30 penalty minutes.

Adirondack also got points from Bourdeau, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Adirondack came via Brian Daury, who had one and Shane Kanaly, who had two.
