Tampa Bay vanquishes Palm Beach in shootout, 5-4 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Tampa Bay Juniors defeated the Palm Beach Hawks in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for 12 attempts between the teams. Palm Beach got a shootout goal from Michael Visnick. In addition to the clincher, Tampa Bay got a shootout goal from Austin Teall.

The Juniors saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Tampa Bay made the score 3-1 on a goal by Jesse Bafia at 9:07 in the second period. The Hawks evened things up at 4-4 on a goal by Ed Kawczak at 19:36 in the third period.

The Juniors pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes.

Tampa Bay forced Palm Beach goalie Adam Silverstein to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

The Juniors were helped by Raven Woodring, who had one goal. Woodring scored 8:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Tampa Bay. Zachary Capco assisted on the tally. Roope Hintz also scored for Tampa Bay. More assists for Tampa Bay came via Brendan Nicholson, who had one.

The Hawks stifled Tampa Bay's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Palm Beach kept the Juniors' goalie busy throughout the game, and Emil Eriksson made 33 saves on 37 shots.

The Hawks were led by Brett Yochum, who racked up two goals and one assist. Yochum scored the first of his two goals at 6:53 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Shane Visnick picked up the assist. Yochum's next tally made the score 4-3 Palm Beach with 5:49 left in the third period. Palm Beach had gotten the advantage when Tampa Bay's Kawczak was sent off for slashing. Joseph Lambert provided the assist. Palm Beach also got a goal from Marshall Edmondson as well. In addition, Palm Beach received assists from Justin Jones, who had one.

The Juniors registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. The Hawks' Silverstein stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Palm Beach incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
