NY AppleCore rolls over Connecticut, 8-1

The NY AppleCore Minor B had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-1 win over the Connecticut Oilers.

NY AppleCore was led by goalie Christoph Mutschin, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. Mutschin managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.55 prior to the game.

The Minor B were paced by Harrison Jacobs, who tallied one goal. Jacobs scored 14:35 into the first period to make the score 2-0 NY AppleCore. Robert DeLury picked up the assist.

NY AppleCore stifled Connecticut's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Minor B's offense rang up 55 shots on the Oilers' net. NY AppleCore bested its season scoring average. The Minor B have scored at the pace of 4.0 goals per game during the current campaign.

NY AppleCore also got points from Dominick Sacco, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Blake Manginell, who also racked up two goals and one assist, and DeLury, who also tallied one goal and one assist. NY AppleCore also got a goal from Michael Conslato as well. Other players who recorded assists for NY AppleCore were Brian Birbrayer, who had two, James Sharpe, John Stevenson, Liam Pues, and Jonathan Kaszuba, who each chipped in one, and Nolan Pues and Nicolas Jasmin, who contributed three a piece.

Connecticut's offense rang up 33 shots on NY AppleCore's net.

The Oilers were led by Tommy Green, who scored the team's only goal. Green scored 5:12 into the second period to make the score 3-1 NY AppleCore. Adam Luchak assisted on the tally.

The Minor B incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Connecticut's Millendorf stopped 47 shots out of the 55 that he faced. The Oilers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
