Maksymum shrugs off penalties, upends Suffolk, 4-0

The Maksymum Junior Hockey (Rochester), which found themselves down a man often, weathered the Suffolk Juniors' power play opportunities and emerged with a 4-0 victory.

Maksymum was paced by Christopher Molnar, who racked up one goal. Molnar scored 23:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Maksymum. Cam Cook provided the assist.

The Junior Hockey (Rochester) excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. Maksymum was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. The Junior Hockey (Rochester) gives up 2.4 goals on average per game. Maksymum kept Suffolk's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Potter made 33 saves on 37 shots. The Junior Hockey (Rochester) were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 46 penalty minutes.

Maksymum additionally got points from Cook, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Maksymum also got a goal from Joshua Johnston as well. More assists for Maksymum came via Daniel Goldstein, who had two and Bryan Carville and Kevin DiMagno, who each chipped in one.

The Juniors forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 13 minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time. Suffolk had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Juniors did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Suffolk puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game.

Ian Sylves rejected 23 shots on goal for Maksymum. The Junior Hockey (Rochester) registered one goal on 10 power play opportunities. The Juniors ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cameron Smith was ejected from the game.
