Suffolk uses early goal to top Florida Junior Blades, 3-1

Michael Leone scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Suffolk Juniors held off the challenges of Florida Junior Blades in a tough 3-1 win.

Leone provided Suffolk with the game-winning tally when he scored 4:27 into the the first period. Donato Cipriano assisted on the tally.

Leone had two goals to lead the Juniors to victory.

Suffolk was led by goalie Daniel Potter, who finished with 52 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Potter will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.75.

The Juniors' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Florida Junior Blades power plays.

Suffolk also got a goal from Christopher Seeback as well. More assists for Suffolk came via Michael Martino and Michael Gilroy, who each chipped in one.

Florida Junior Blades did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Florida Junior Blades averages 3.9 goals per game. Suffolk was unable to stop Florida Junior Blades from sending pucks towards the net, and Florida Junior Blades eventually piled up 53 shots on goal.

Florida Junior Blades was led by Joshua Koerner, who scored the team's only goal. Koerner scored 24:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Suffolk. Troy Degler picked up the assist.

The Juniors incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Florida Junior Blades' Jacob Carter stopped 12 shots out of the 14 that he faced. Florida Junior Blades incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
