Frederick pulls away in second, rolls over Adirondack, 9-2

The Frederick Freeze scored four goals in the second period to pull away from the Adirondack Junior Wings and clinch a 9-2 win.

Logan Coomes had one goal and two assists to lead Frederick. Coomes scored on the power play 52 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Frederick. Reid Bibb picked up the assist.

The Freeze made Junior Wings' goalies to work without much rest, firing 45 shots and forcing 36 saves. Chet Tooker made 15 stops and Crae Messer made 21. Frederick excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Freeze's goal total was higher than their season average. Frederick averages 4.1 goals per game.

Frederick additionally got points from Bibb, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Casey Donegan, who also had one goal and two assists, Michael Shearer, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Florian Cotera, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Frederick included Pierce McCaull, who had one and Zachary Pard, who had three. In addition, Frederick received assists from Ryley Harper, Eric Gausseres, Nicholas Price, Ian Soifer, and Richard Novodomec, who each chipped in one.

Adirondack's penalty kill unit could not stop the Freeze's power play, which converted on three of four opportunities.

The Junior Wings were led by Brian Daury, who tallied one goal. Daury scored 16:47 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Frederick. Nicholas Oda provided the assist. Sam Vincent also scored for Adirondack.

Michal Marcinek rejected 21 shots on goal for Frederick. The Freeze incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Frederick ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and McCaull was ejected from the game. Adirondack incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
