Syracuse falls to Brewster in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Brewster Bulldogs' Thomas Kirincic scored 1:11 into overtime to beat the Syracuse Junior Stars, 4-3 (OT).

Francesco Sherding had two goals and one assist to lead Brewster. Sherding scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brewster. The Bulldogs had gained a power play chance when Conner Doren was whistled for slashing. Zachary White provided the assist. Sherding's next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 Brewster with 4:04 left in the second period. A high sticking penalty on Jesse Farabee had put Brewster on the power play. White picked up the assist.

The Bulldogs' offense rang up 52 shots on Syracuse's net. Brewster got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

Brewster additionally got points from Kirincic, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and White, who also tallied one goal and two assists. In addition, Brewster received assists from Matthew Smethurst, who had two and Brad Alexander and David Rubenstein, who contributed one a piece.

The Junior Stars kept the Bulldogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Conor Bunyan made 47 saves on 50 shots. Syracuse could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Junior Stars were helped by Jeremy Wilber, who racked up one goal. Wilber scored 11:58 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Kyle Bird provided the assist. Syracuse also got a goal from Tom Nicholson as well. More assists for Syracuse came via Matt Schneider, who had one.

Brewster totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-6 on the power play. Syracuse's Schneider stopped 48 shots out of the 52 that he faced. The Junior Stars registered two goals on six power play opportunities.
