Valley beats Islanders 3-0 as Saraceno gains shutout

Matthew Saraceno recorded a shutout against Islanders as the Valley Junior Warriors picked up a 3-0 win.

Valley's penalty kill excelled, as the Junior Warriors gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Valley was led by Andrew Sousa, who tallied one goal. Sousa scored 3:01 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Valley. Matthew Culot picked up the assist.

The Junior Warriors stifled Islanders' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Valley's offense rang up 32 shots on Islanders' net. The Junior Warriors were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time.

Valley additionally got points from Culot, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Valley also got a goal from Luke Miller as well. More assists for Valley came via Nathan Shirley, who had one.

Islanders stifled Valley's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Islanders could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Islanders puts an average of 2.7 pucks into the net per game.

Saraceno recorded 25 saves for the Junior Warriors. Valley registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Islanders' Andrew McLeman stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Islanders ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
