Maksymum squeaks by Syracuse, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Maksymum Junior Hockey (Rochester) escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Syracuse Junior Stars.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Michael Whitehair at 8:45 of the third period.

Maksymum was led by Whitehair, who racked up one goal.

Syracuse was unable to stop the Junior Hockey (Rochester) from sending pucks towards the net, and Maksymum eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Maksymum also got a goal from Dylan Versage as well. In addition, Maksymum received assists from Gregory Miller, Joseph Snook, Justus Nowak, and Kevin DiMagno, who contributed one a piece.

The Junior Stars put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Junior Hockey (Rochester) to score on any of their three power plays. Syracuse forced Maksymum goalie Ian Sylves to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Junior Stars were helped by Nate Zweig, who tallied one goal. Zweig scored 4:57 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Erik Kurz also scored for Syracuse. More assists for Syracuse came via Garth Gray, who had one.

Sylves recorded 32 saves for the Junior Hockey (Rochester). Maksymum incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Syracuse's Nate Skidmore stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Junior Stars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
