The Maksymum Junior Hockey (Rochester) and the Syracuse Junior Stars were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Maksymum made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. The Junior Hockey (Rochester) gained the winning advantage on a goal by Thomas Grammatico 5:20 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Maksymum was led by Grammatico, who tallied one goal. The Junior Hockey (Rochester)'s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Syracuse power plays. Maksymum's offense rang up 58 shots on Syracuse's net. Maksymum also got a goal from Bryan Carville as well. In addition, Maksymum received assists from Joseph Snook, Daniel Goldstein, Tanner Woodruff, William Holbrook, and Joshua Johnston, who contributed one a piece. Penalties took their toll on the Junior Stars, as their penalty kill unit let in three power play goals. Syracuse was helped by Anthony Angello, who finished with one goal. Angello scored 18:19 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Syracuse. Garth Gray picked up the assist. Nicholas Mercurio also scored for Syracuse. More assists for Syracuse came via Alex Taylor, who had one. Ian Sylves made 28 saves for the Junior Hockey (Rochester) on 30 shots. Maksymum incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Junior Stars' Matt Schneider stopped 54 shots out of the 57 that he faced. Syracuse ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. |
