Suffolk downs Brewster, 6-3

Michael Gilroy had two points to lead the Suffolk PAL to a 6-3 victory over the Brewster Bulldogs.

Suffolk was sparked by Gilroy, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Gilroy scored 12:14 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Suffolk. Joseph Quinn assisted on the tally.

The PAL's offense rang up 32 shots on Brewster's net. Suffolk bested its season scoring average. The PAL have scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Suffolk was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on 10 chances.

Suffolk additionally got points from Michael Leone, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Christopher Seeback, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Suffolk also had goals scored by Evan Schwartz, who had one and Nicholas Mangone, who had two. In addition, Suffolk received assists from Thomas Dunn, who had two and Cameron Smith, Donato Cipriano, Andrew Cozzi, Benjamin Sorkin, Joseph Duszak, and Jason Reiter, who contributed one a piece.

The Bulldogs kept the PAL's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Potter made 31 saves on 34 shots. Brewster's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. The Bulldogs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

Brewster was helped by Thomas Kirincic, who registered two goals. Kirincic scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 45 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brewster. Michael Benincasa picked up the assist. Kirincic's next tally on the power play made the score 3-1 Brewster with 4:44 left in the second period. The Bulldogs had gained a power play chance when Christopher Stemke was whistled for interference. Francesco Sherding assisted on the tally. Brewster also got points from Benincasa, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Brewster came via Sean Henderson, who had one.

Suffolk ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Brewster's Conor Bunyan stopped 26 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Bulldogs registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
