Vincent's goals lift Adirondack to 5-2 victory over BuffaloRPI Houston House Sun, Oct 21, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Adirondack Junior Wings relied on the scoring touch of Sam Vincent, who netted two goals, to beat the Buffalo Stars, 5-2. Vincent scored on the power play at 18:26 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while 15:12 into the third to make the score 4-2 Adirondack.Buffalo's power play was ineffective against Adirondack's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Junior Wings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stars to score on any of their seven power plays. Adirondack's offense rang up 55 shots on Buffalo's net. The Junior Wings outdid their season average for goals scored. Adirondack has scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The Junior Wings' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Adirondack finished with 24 penalty minutes. Adirondack additionally got points from Matt Flynn, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Brian Daury, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kyle Fitscher also scored for Adirondack. In addition, Adirondack received assists from Andrew Bourdeau, who had three and Matt State and Cameron Kuhl, who contributed one a piece. The Stars found themselves short handed often, totaling 34 penalty minutes and allowing 11 power plays. Buffalo was helped by Blake Germony, who registered one goal. Germony scored 7:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Angelo Sarro provided the assist. Buffalo also got a goal from John Colvin as well. More assists for Buffalo came via Kyler Johnson and Jacob Lezynski, who each chipped in one. The Junior Wings' Chet Tooker stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Thomas Brown made 50 saves for the Stars on 55 shots.
