Junior Bruins takes care of Portland early, wins 9-0

A four-goal first period deficit cost the Portland Jr Pirates, which could not recover and fell to Junior Bruins, 9-0.

Vince DAmato had a great game for Junior Bruins, netting two goals. DAmato scored at 3:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Junior Bruins and again while 8:34 into the first to make the score 3-0 Junior Bruins.

Junior Bruins made Jr Pirates' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 38 shots and forcing 29 saves. Maxwell Boucher made 17 stops and Cam Riddle made 12. Junior Bruins put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Portland to score on any of its four power plays. Junior Bruins' goal total was higher than its season average. This season, Junior Bruins averages 4.6 goals per contest.

Junior Bruins also got points from Brian Fahey, who also registered one goal and two assists, Alexander Pantalone, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Michael Kantorski, who also had one goal and two assists, Kyle Webb, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Ryan OToole, who also registered one goal and two assists. Junior Bruins also got a goal from Jake McKinnon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Junior Bruins were Bryan Carter, Matthew Brett, Robert Houghton, Anthony Galloway, and Daniel Pastl, who contributed one a piece and Cam Cottam and Zach Koonce, who each chipped in two.

The Jr Pirates did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 14 shots on net to force 14 saves.

Ryan Venditti recorded 14 saves for Junior Bruins. Junior Bruins incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Portland incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
