Frederick uses big second period to beat Jersey Wildcats, 9-2

The Frederick Freeze used a six-goal second period to put away Jersey Wildcats, 9-2.

Richard Novodomec had two goals and two assists to lead Frederick. Novodomec scored the first of his two goals at 8:08 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Frederick. Nicholas Price picked up the assist. Novodomec's next tally made the score 7-1 Frederick with 7:12 left in the second period. Reid Bibb assisted on the tally.

The Freeze forced Jersey Wildcats' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, finishing with 59 shots and forcing 50 saves. Grant Perry made 19 stops and Gennaro Anzevino made 31. Frederick bested its season scoring average. The Freeze average 3.8 goals per game.

Frederick also got points from Florian Cotera, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Frederick included Zachary Pard and Nathan Hefner, who each put in one and Ryley Harper and Logan Coomes, who scored two goals each. More assists for Frederick came via Ian Soifer, who had three, Casey Donegan, Michael Shearer, Patrick Meigher, Luke Humbert, and Adam Taylor, who contributed one a piece, and Pierce McCaull and Gregory Lane, who each chipped in two.

Jersey Wildcats was led by Edward Ziegenfuss, who tallied one goal. Ziegenfuss scored on the power play 4:04 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jersey Wildcats had taken the advantage when Frederick's Taylor got sent off for roughing. Zakariya Sheikh provided the assist. Erik Andersson also scored for Jersey Wildcats. In addition, Jersey Wildcats received assists from Zachary Chamberlain, who had one.

Michal Marcinek made 25 saves for the Freeze on 27 shots. Frederick incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Jersey Wildcats incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
