Frederick beats Jersey Wildcats 6-5 after comeback scare

Jersey Wildcats tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Frederick Freeze would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-5.

Frederick made the score 6-4 on a goal by Adam Taylor at 14:15 in the third period, and Jersey Wildcats got as close as 6-5 when Erik Andersson scored 19:10 into the third period.

The Freeze got the win thanks to a great game by Taylor, who had one goal and two assists.

Frederick was often in penalty trouble, totaling 12 minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game the Freeze had been spending in the box. Frederick forced Jersey Wildcats goalie Gennaro Anzevino to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots. The Freeze's goal total was higher than their season average. Frederick has scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Frederick also got points from Reid Bibb, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Logan Coomes, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Frederick also had goals scored by Richard Novodomec, who had one and Zachary Pard, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Frederick were Florian Cotera, who had two and Pierce McCaull and Ian Soifer, who each chipped in one.

Jersey Wildcats' offense rang up 45 shots on the Freeze's net. Jersey Wildcats could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Jersey Wildcats additionally got points from Brandon Crawley, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Edward Ziegenfuss, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Jersey Wildcats also got a goal from Lucas Moser as well. In addition, Jersey Wildcats received assists from Ryan Strapp, Max Vorob, Geoffrey Liter, Cory DeCosta, and Zakariya Sheikh, who contributed one a piece.

Michal Marcinek recorded 40 saves for Frederick. The Freeze registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. For Frederick, Nicholas Price was ejected from the game. Jersey Wildcats' Anzevino stopped 48 shots out of the 54 that he faced. Jersey Wildcats registered four goals on nine power play opportunities.
