Glander leads Jersey Hitmen to shutout victory over SyracuseCicero NHL Sat, Oct 13, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Ryan Glander made 30 saves to complete the shutout and led Jersey Hitmen to a 3-0 win against the Syracuse Junior Stars. Jersey Hitmen was led by Luke Rodgers, who racked up one goal. Rodgers scored on the power play 15:29 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Jersey Hitmen. Jersey Hitmen had gotten the advantage when Syracuse's Joey Rutkowski was sent off for roughing. Jonathan Spada picked up the assist. Jersey Hitmen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Junior Stars to score on any of their five power plays. Jersey Hitmen was steadier on the defensive front than it has been for much of this season. Jersey Hitmen gives up 2.5 goals on average per game. The Junior Stars could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Syracuse averages 3.7 goals per game. Jersey Hitmen incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Matt Schneider made 43 saves for the Junior Stars on 46 shots. Syracuse incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
