South Shore uses big second period to beat Portland, 10-1

The South Shore Kings scored six goals in the second period to pull away from the Portland Jr Pirates and clinch a 10-1 win.

South Shore got the win behind a great game by Evan Jacques, who had two goals and one assist. Jacques scored the first of his two goals at 7:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 South Shore. Daniel Clifford assisted on the tally. Jacques' next tally made the score 2-0 South Shore with 15:05 left in the second period. Dillon Gargano picked up the assist.

Portland was stymied by the Kings netminder Kory LeBlanc, who stopped 25 shots during the victory.

South Shore forced Jr Pirates' goalies to work all game long, finishing with 46 shots and forcing 36 saves. Maxwell Boucher made 21 stops and Cam Riddle made 15. The Kings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Portland power plays. South Shore bested its season scoring average. The Kings have scored at the pace of 4.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

South Shore additionally got points from Kevin Divver, who also registered one goal and one assist, Christopher Oliveira, who also had one goal and one assist, and Paul Wagner, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for South Shore included Brian Cahalane, who had three and Arturs Buss and JB Sweeney, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for South Shore were Paul Marino, who had two, William Sweezey, Connor Johnson, Dylan B Burns, and Owen Campbell, who each chipped in one, and Beau Starrett and Stephen Rocchio, who contributed three a piece.

The Jr Pirates could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

South Shore incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
