Junior Bruins downs Connecticut, 6-2

Junior Bruins won 6-2 over the Connecticut Oilers.

Penalties took their toll on Junior Bruins, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. Junior Bruins' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Junior Bruins was helped by Ryan OToole, who finished with one goal. OToole scored 51 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Junior Bruins. Cam Cottam provided the assist. Junior Bruins additionally got points from Robert Houghton, who also registered one goal and one assist and Daniel Resop, who also had one goal and one assist. Junior Bruins also had goals scored by Benjamin Piecz, who had one and Bryan Carter, who had two. In addition, Junior Bruins received assists from Daniel Pastl, who had two and Paul Martone, Alexander Pantalone, Michael Kantorski, Kyle Griffin, and Vince DAmato, who each chipped in one.

The Connecticut penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game the Oilers had been spending in the box. Connecticut forced Junior Bruins' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 41 shots and forcing 39 saves. Maxwell Barr made 17 stops and Sam Dargene made 22. The Oilers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on nine Junior Bruins power plays.

Connecticut was helped by Charles Widmar, who grabbed one goal. Widmar scored on the power play 18:51 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Junior Bruins. The Oilers had gotten the advantage when Junior Bruins' Jeremy Hannah was sent off for hooking. Thomas Worsfold picked up the assist. Stephan Seeger also scored for Connecticut. Other players who recorded assists for Connecticut were Philip Prins, who had one.

Junior Bruins ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Zachary Geller recorded 10 saves for Connecticut.
