Springfield holds on for 4-3 win against Adirondack

The Springfield Pics survived a determined comeback attempt by the Adirondack Junior Wings on the way to a 4-3 win.

Springfield made the score 3-0 on a goal by Nicholas Sibilia at 18:12 in the first period, and Adirondack got as close as 3-2 when Andrew Bourdeau scored 18 seconds into the third period.

Matthew Antonacci was all over the ice for the Pics, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Antonacci scored short handed 10:16 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Springfield. Springfield was on a disadvantage when John Colburn went off the ice for tripping. Thane Schinabeck provided the assist.

The Pics forced the Junior Wings goalie Chet Tooker to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Tom Greene also scored for Springfield. Other players who recorded assists for Springfield were Logan Schinabeck, Conner Brochu, and Zachary Prout, who each chipped in one.

Adirondack's offense rang up 44 shots on Springfield's net.

The Junior Wings were helped by Brian Daury, who tallied one goal. Daury scored on the power play 10:57 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Springfield. Adirondack additionally got points from Bourdeau, who also registered one goal and one assist and Sam Vincent, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Adirondack came via Matt Flynn, who had two.

Randall Smith made 41 saves for the Pics on 44 shots. Springfield incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Adirondack's Tooker stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Junior Wings incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
