Junior Bruins survives Brewster comeback, wins 6-4

The Brewster Bulldogs tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but Junior Bruins held on for a 6-4 victory.

Junior Bruins made the score 6-3 on a goal by Ryan OToole at 8:28 in the third period, and Brewster got as close as 6-4 when Sean Henderson scored 15:37 into the third period.

Junior Bruins got the win with help from a great game by Vince DAmato, who had one goal and three assists. DAmato scored 7:04 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Daniel Resop provided the assist.

Junior Bruins forced the Bulldogs goalie Conor Bunyan to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Junior Bruins gave up more goals than its normal season average. Junior Bruins is averaging 1.7 goal against for the season.

Junior Bruins additionally got points from Cam Cottam, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Brian Fahey also scored for Junior Bruins. More assists for Junior Bruins came via Anthony Galloway, who had two and Kyle Webb and Benjamin Piecz, who each chipped in one.

Brewster found itself short handed often, totaling 16 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. The Bulldogs' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Brewster was helped by David Rubenstein, who had one goal. Rubenstein scored 13:15 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Brewster. Conner Grogan picked up the assist. Brewster also got a goal from Thomas Kirincic as well. In addition, Brewster received assists from Brad Alexander, who had two and Kevin McGee and David Morgan, who contributed one a piece.

Junior Bruins' starting goalie, Sam Dargene, made 17 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Maxwell Barr, who stopped seven shots. Junior Bruins incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Bunyan recorded 34 saves for the Bulldogs. Brewster registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
