Kanter's hat trick boosts Hampton Roads over Space Coast, 7-3

A hat trick by Nathan Kanter was the highlight in Whalers' 7-3 win against the Space Coast Hurricanes.

Kanter notched his first tally 13:33 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:41 into the second and at 8:42 into the second.

The Hampton Roads Whalers forced Space Coast goalie Harrison Vangellow to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. Hampton Roads' goal total was higher than its season average. The Whalers average 4.6 goals per game.

Hampton Roads additionally got points from Jonathon Jones, who also had one goal and two assists, Trent Carter, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Jeremy Wilson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Hampton Roads also got a goal from Kyle Buchanan as well. More assists for Hampton Roads came via Michael Addison, who had four and Maxwell Milutinovich and Regen Cavanagh, who contributed one a piece.

The Hurricanes' offense rang up 34 shots on Hampton Roads' net.

Space Coast was helped by Caleb Weesner, who tallied one goal. Weesner scored 14:45 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Bailey King assisted on the tally. Chase Horn also scored for Space Coast. In addition, Space Coast received assists from Benjamin Ferreira and Brian Hurley, who each chipped in one.

The Whalers' Taylor Brost stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Hampton Roads incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Vangellow rejected 38 shots on goal for the Hurricanes. Space Coast incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
