Bay State hangs on, beats Islanders 3-1Rockland Arena Sat, Oct 06, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Bay State Breakers took the lead against Islanders in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory. Joseph Barton provided Bay State with the game-winning tally when he scored 13:35 into the the first period. Ryan Dunn assisted on the tally.The Breakers' Matthew Farrell was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 39 saves and let only one puck past him. Farrell managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.09 prior to the game. Bay State was sparked by John Sheehan, who tallied one goal. Sheehan scored 9:10 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Bay State. Henry Nelson provided the assist. The Breakers forced Islanders goalie Michael Kitts to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. Bay State was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on 14 chances with a man advantage. Bay State additionally got points from Dunn, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Bay State received assists from John Duranczyk, Christopher Duffy, Ryan ODonnell, and Nicholas Russo, who each chipped in one. The Breakers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kitts recorded 41 saves for Islanders. Islanders registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
