Potomac wins tough contest against Florida Eels, 3-2Extreme - Training Rink Fri, Oct 05, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Potomac Patriots escaped with a 3-2 victory over Florida Eels. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Miles Miller secured the win for Potomac with a goal in the second period. Florida Eels' power play was ineffective against the Patriots' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Potomac was sparked by Jeffrey Egan, who grabbed one goal. Egan scored on the power play 13:49 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Potomac. The Patriots had gained a power play chance when Cameron Salander was whistled for high sticking. Micah Dabao assisted on the tally. Potomac stifled Florida Eels' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Patriots kept Florida Eels' goalie busy throughout the game, and Marc Terriault made 28 saves on 31 shots. Potomac's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Patriots finished with 16 penalty minutes. Potomac also got points from Dabao, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Potomac received assists from Robert Stone, who had two and Jack Strycharz and Noah Rubin, who each chipped in one. Florida Eels did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Florida Eels puts an average of 5.4 pucks into the net per game. Potomac was unable to stop Florida Eels from sending pucks towards the net, and Florida Eels eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Florida Eels was helped by Jonathan Carlson, who racked up one goal. Carlson scored 18:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Florida Eels. Florida Eels also got a goal from Joshua DeLezenne as well. More assists for Florida Eels came via Keanu Gallegos, who had one. TJ Hollen recorded 32 saves for the Patriots. Potomac registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. Florida Eels incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
