Tampa Bay survives East Coast comeback, wins 5-3

The Tampa Bay Juniors came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the East Coast Eagles, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory.

Tampa Bay led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Juniors' Jesse Bafia's scored on the power play at 11:26 in the second period to put Tampa Bay up 5-2.

Nicholas Reed was all over the ice for the Juniors, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Reed scored the first of his two goals at 10:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tampa Bay. Austin Teall picked up the assist. Reed's next tally made the score 2-1 Tampa Bay with -97 seconds left in the first period. Kurt Williams provided the assist.

Tampa Bay's offense rang up 32 shots on East Coast's net. The Juniors struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 16 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Tampa Bay additionally got points from Brendan Nicholson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Tampa Bay also got a goal from Roope Hintz as well. Other players who recorded assists for Tampa Bay were Jonathan Hall, who had one and Christian Aunspaugh, who had two.

The Eagles kept Tampa Bay's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kyle Gertz made 40 saves on 43 shots. East Coast's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Eagles finished with 26 penalty minutes.

East Coast was helped by Graff Richards, who registered one goal and one assist. Richards scored 19:41 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Tampa Bay. Bruce Chappell assisted on the tally. East Coast also got points from Chappell, who also had one goal and one assist. Connor Kaminski also scored for East Coast. In addition, East Coast received assists from Kyle Levere, who had two and Matt Burleson and Shane Selan, who each chipped in one.

The Juniors registered three goals on 11 power play opportunities. Roman Riselvato recorded 27 saves for the Eagles.
