New Hampshire downs Jersey Wildcats, 8-5

The New Hampshire Jr Monarchs won 8-5 over Jersey Wildcats.

New Hampshire kept Jersey Wildcats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Grant Perry made 46 saves on 54 shots. The Jr Monarchs surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, New Hampshire averages 5.9 goals per contest. The Jr Monarchs' defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. New Hampshire gives up 1.6 goal per game. The Jr Monarchs found themselves short handed often, totaling 28 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.

New Hampshire was helped by Brett Boyer, who had two goals and one assist. Boyer scored the first of his two goals at 16:48 into the first period to make the score 2-0 New Hampshire. Davis Algra picked up the assist. Boyer's next tally made the score 3-0 New Hampshire with 2:59 left in the first period. James Jamieson provided the assist. New Hampshire also got points from Brent Beaudoin, who also registered two goals and one assist and Michael Fabie, who also tallied one goal and one assist. New Hampshire also got a goal from Connor Merrick as well. In addition, New Hampshire received assists from Eric Grover, Ross Mandigo, Nate OBrien, Ty Anderson, Brendan Tazumi, Stephen Wolf, and Christopher Moquin, who contributed one a piece.

Jersey Wildcats stifled the Jr Monarchs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Jersey Wildcats forced New Hampshire goalie Dylan Palmer to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Jersey Wildcats was led by Cory DeCosta, who tallied two goals and one assist. DeCosta scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 17:24 into the second period to make the score 6-4 New Hampshire. Jersey Wildcats had taken the advantage when the Jr Monarchs' Fabie got sent off for too many men. Christopher Sanchez picked up the assist. DeCosta's next tally on the power play made the score 8-5 New Hampshire with -296 seconds left in the second period. Jersey Wildcats had gained a power play chance when Jonathan Kostial was whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct. Sanchez assisted on the tally. Jersey Wildcats additionally got points from Sanchez, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Jack Green, who also had one goal and one assist. John Buckley also scored for Jersey Wildcats. Other players who recorded assists for Jersey Wildcats were Brandon Crawley, who had two and Zachary Chamberlain, Ryan Strapp, Erik Andersson, and Ryan Morse, who each chipped in one.

Dylan Palmer made 27 saves for New Hampshire on 32 shots. The Jr Monarchs registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. Jersey Wildcats incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
