New Hampshire wins tough contest against Junior Bruins, 4-2

The New Hampshire Jr Monarchs gutted out a close 4-2 win against Junior Bruins.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Nate Philbrick's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Ross Mandigo was all over the ice for New Hampshire, as he tallied two goals in the win. Mandigo found the back of the net 11:16 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 19:40 into the third to make the score 4-2 New Hampshire.

The Jr Monarchs stifled Junior Bruins' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. New Hampshire kept Junior Bruins' goalie busy throughout the game, and Maxwell Barr made 32 saves on 36 shots.

New Hampshire also got a goal from Michael Fabie as well. More assists for New Hampshire came via Brent Beaudoin, who had two and Davis Algra, Ty Anderson, Cole Burack, and Christopher Moquin, who each chipped in one.

Junior Bruins put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr Monarchs to score on any of their three power plays. Junior Bruins' offense rang up 32 shots on New Hampshire's net. Junior Bruins gave up more goals than its normal season average. Junior Bruins averages 1.3 goal allowed per game.

Junior Bruins was led by Kyle Griffin, who had one goal and one assist. Griffin scored 13:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Junior Bruins. Robert Houghton assisted on the tally. Brian Fahey also scored for Junior Bruins. In addition, Junior Bruins received assists from Bryan Carter and Matthew Brett, who contributed one a piece.

Burack recorded 30 saves for the Jr Monarchs. New Hampshire incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Junior Bruins incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
