Jersey Hitmen rolls over Portland, 5-0

Jersey Hitmen had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-0 win over the Portland Jr Pirates.

Jersey Hitmen was sparked by Eddie Coxe, who registered one goal. Coxe scored 1:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Jersey Hitmen. Chris Peterson picked up the assist.

Jersey Hitmen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Portland to score on any of its five power plays. Jersey Hitmen's defense was surprisingly good. Jersey Hitmen allows 2.4 goals per game. Jersey Hitmen kept the Jr Pirates' goalie busy throughout the game, and Maxwell Boucher made 47 saves on 52 shots.

Jersey Hitmen also got points from Matt Langlois, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Sean Johnson also scored for Jersey Hitmen. More assists for Jersey Hitmen came via David Kearns, who had two and William Hoeft, Cory Sala, Robby Marsanico, Joe Masonius, and Dylan Stephanik, who contributed one a piece.

Portland's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Jr Pirates finished with 42 penalty minutes.

Jersey Hitmen's William Creel stopped 18 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Jersey Hitmen incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
