Atlanta rips Potomac, 4-1

The Atlanta Knights had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Potomac Patriots.

Atlanta pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 22 penalty minutes.

The Knights were paced by Cale Massa, who grabbed one goal. Massa scored 5:39 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Atlanta. Se Kim provided the assist.

Atlanta excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 11 chances. Potomac was unable to stop the Knights from sending pucks towards the net, and Atlanta eventually piled up 51 shots on goal. The defensemen of the Knights were also effective in the Patriots' zone, and came away with two goals.

Atlanta additionally got points from Kim, who also had one goal and one assist. Atlanta also got a goal from Zachary Egan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Atlanta were Jack Trischett, who had two and Andrew Daehlin, Christopher Santa Maria, Austin Ventura, and Nick Elliott, who contributed one a piece.

Potomac put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Atlanta to score on any of its eight power plays. The Patriots were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 30 penalty minutes.

Lucas Thurston rejected 22 shots on goal for the Knights. TJ Hollen recorded 47 saves for Potomac. The Patriots ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matthew Reynolds was ejected from the game.
