Jersey Wildcats survives penalties, beats Adirondack, 5-2

Despite having to fight off several power plays, Jersey Wildcats was able to defeat the Adirondack Junior Wings, 5-2.

Jersey Wildcats was led by Connor Hoarty, who registered one goal. Hoarty scored short handed 10:50 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Jersey Wildcats. Jersey Wildcats found itself down a man on Cory DeCosta's tripping. Ryan Morse picked up the assist.

Jersey Wildcats forced Adirondack's goalies to work all game long, launching 31 shots and forcing 26 saves. Crae Messer made nine stops and Chet Tooker made 17. Jersey Wildcats bested its season scoring average. This season, Jersey Wildcats averages 2.9 goals per contest.

Jersey Wildcats additionally got points from Austin Nye, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Geoffrey Liter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Edward Ziegenfuss also scored for Jersey Wildcats. More assists for Jersey Wildcats came via Joseph Rametta and Lucas Moser, who each chipped in one and Ryan Strapp and Erik Andersson, who contributed two a piece.

The Junior Wings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Jersey Wildcats to score on any of its six power plays.

Adirondack was helped by Matt Flynn, who racked up one goal. Flynn scored on the power play 10:33 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Jersey Wildcats. Cameron Kuhl provided the assist. Adirondack also got a goal from Brian Daury as well. Other players who recorded assists for Adirondack were Sam Vincent and Liam McGuey, who each chipped in one.

Gennaro Anzevino rejected 21 shots on goal for Jersey Wildcats. Jersey Wildcats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Junior Wings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
