Jersey Hitmen wins tough contest against Salem, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Jersey Hitmen escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Salem Ice Dogs.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Lucas Luppino's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

Jersey Hitmen pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Jersey Hitmen was paced by Luppino, who had one goal. Luppino scored 22:12 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Jersey Hitmen. TJ Thaler assisted on the tally.

Jersey Hitmen also got points from Cody Calcagno, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. William Hoeft also scored for Jersey Hitmen. Other players who recorded assists for Jersey Hitmen were Justin McKenzie, who had one and Kevin Hill and Matt Langlois, who contributed two a piece.

Salem was helped by Michael Napolitano, who racked up one goal. Napolitano scored on the power play 9:59 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Ice Dogs had gained a power play chance when Andrew Callahan was whistled for slashing. Daniel Duggan picked up the assist. Salem additionally got points from Nicholas Latham, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Salem received assists from Bobby Mullins, who had one.

Ryan Glander rejected 16 shots on goal for Jersey Hitmen. Jersey Hitmen registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Salem's Bradley Radin stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Ice Dogs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
