The Connecticut Oilers took the lead against the Adirondack Junior Wings in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 1-0 victory. Ryan Harper provided Connecticut with the game-winning tally when he scored 8:56 into the the first period. Stephan Seeger assisted on the tally.Gryphon Richardson frustrated Adirondack's offense all game, and stopped 32 shots en route to a shutout. Richardson managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.31 prior to the game. The Oilers pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 14 penalty minutes. Connecticut put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Junior Wings to score on any of their seven power plays. Adirondack's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Connecticut power plays. The Junior Wings' offense rang up 32 shots on the Oilers' net. Chet Tooker made 26 saves for Adirondack on 27 shots. The Junior Wings incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
