Yates nets hat trick, leads Bay State to 10-1 win over Adirondack

The Adirondack Junior Wings could not stop the Bay State Breakers' Gavin Yates, who tallied a hat trick in a 10-1 win.

Yates got on the scoresheet 3:42 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:57 into the first and at 11:26 into the second.

Bay State made Adirondack's netminders to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots and forcing 25 saves. Matt Cologgi made five stops and Crae Messer made 20. The Breakers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Bay State finished below its season average of 7.0 penalty minutes per game. The Breakers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Bay State averages 5.5 goals per contest. The Breakers capitalized on the Junior Wings' penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with four goals.

Bay State also got points from Cullen Hussey, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Christopher Perry, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Ryan ODonnell, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Tom Cahill, who also registered one goal and two assists. Bay State also had goals scored by Kevin Sheehan, who had one and Charles Murphy, who had two. More assists for Bay State came via Henry Nelson and Christopher Duffy, who contributed one a piece and John Sheehan and Nicholas Russo, who each chipped in two.

Adirondack also got a goal from Sam Vincent as well. In addition, Adirondack received assists from Matt Flynn and David Wilgocki, who contributed one a piece.

Paul LaPlante recorded 21 saves for Bay State. Adirondack incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
