DiMagno's big game bests Hampton Roads in 8-2 Maksymum win

Behind a great game by Kevin DiMagno, who had two goals and one assist, the Maksymum Junior Hockey (Rochester) defeated the Hampton Roads Whalers, 8-2.

DiMagno's tallies came at 18:29 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Maksymum and 18:55 into the first to make the score 3-0 Maksymum.

Maksymum made Hampton Roads' goalies to work without much rest, taking 46 shots and forcing 38 saves. Taylor Brost made 34 stops and Brett Fordham made four. The Junior Hockey (Rochester) excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Maksymum bested its season scoring average. The Junior Hockey (Rochester) average 4.5 goals per game. Maksymum's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Maksymum additionally got points from Justus Nowak, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Mikel Williams, who also grabbed three goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Kyle Gannon also scored for Maksymum. More assists for Maksymum came via Michael Whitehair, who had three and Joseph Snook, Kevin Geeza, and Austin Harding, who each chipped in one.

The Whalers were led by Kyle Buchanan, who racked up one goal and one assist. Buchanan scored 6:01 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Maksymum. Trent Carter provided the assist. Hampton Roads also got a goal from Jeremy Wilson as well. In addition, Hampton Roads received assists from Nathan Kanter, who had one.

The Junior Hockey (Rochester)'s starting goalie, Jake Bryniarski, made 10 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Ryan Morey, who stopped four shots. Maksymum incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Hampton Roads incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
