Philadelphia squeaks by Connecticut, 3-2

SoNo Ice House    Fri, Mar 01, 2013

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Philadelphia Revolution escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Connecticut Oilers.

Philadelphia gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jamie Crane 4:00 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Revolution were paced by Crane, who had one goal.

In a losing effort, Connecticut was led by Philip Prins, who racked up two goals. Prins scored the first of his two goals at 29 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Connecticut. Stephan Seeger picked up the assist. Prins' next tally made the score 2-1 Connecticut with 15:12 left in the first period. Tommy Green assisted on the tally.

Philadelphia put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Oilers to score on any of their four power plays. The Revolution kept Connecticut's goalie busy throughout the game, and Christopher Bastone made 51 saves on 54 shots.

Philadelphia also got a goal from Justin Goldstein as well. In addition, Philadelphia received assists from Benjamin Orlowski, William Hayden, Kyle Crane, Nicholas Minerva, and Zachary England, who each chipped in one.

The Oilers' offense rang up 37 shots on Philadelphia's net.
