Yellowstone rolls over Billings, 5-2

The Yellowstone Quake were firing on all cylinders against the Billings Bulls, and when the final buzzer sounded Quake emerged with a 5-2 win.

Yellowstone was sparked by Brandon Busse, who racked up one goal. Busse scored 6:08 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Yellowstone. Brandon Smith provided the assist.

The Quake forced Billings goalie Nic Wackerly to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. Yellowstone had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances.

Yellowstone also got a goal from Michael Berens as well. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Tanner Fricke, George Splichal, Orri Haman, Andrew Lansing, and Trent Carter, who each chipped in one and Sam Basich and Bryan Standly, who contributed two a piece.

The Bulls forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and two majors for 46 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game Billings had been spending in the box. The Bulls kept the Quake's goalie busy throughout the game, and JT Blum made 32 saves on 34 shots.

Billings was helped by Ivan Good, who registered one goal. Good scored 5:29 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Stephen Thompson assisted on the tally. Jarrett Stark also scored for Billings. In addition, Billings received assists from John Vant and Nik Nasby, who each chipped in one.

Yellowstone incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Nic Wackerly made 39 saves for the Bulls on 44 shots. Billings registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Bulls ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Erik Schulte was ejected from the game.
