Heykoop's big game bests Napanee in 8-4 Port Hope win

The Port Hope Panthers' Brad Heykoop had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 8-4 win over the Napanee Raiders.

Heykoop scored at 17:04 into the second period to make the score 6-1 Port Hope and again while 23 seconds into the third to make the score 7-1 Port Hope.

Port Hope's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Napanee power plays. The Panthers kept Napanee's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kyle Copeland made 33 saves on 41 shots. Port Hope bested its season scoring average. The Panthers average 4.6 goals per game.

Port Hope also got points from Ryan Hickey, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Josh Fulford, who also registered one goal and two assists, Dan Lagrois, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Nick Weiss, who also had one goal and one assist. Dalton Lawrence also scored for Port Hope. Other players who recorded assists for Port Hope were Kyle Sullivan, Logan Arsenault, Keifer Macinnis, and Josh Fagan, who contributed one a piece and Jacob Spicer and Ryan Wilkinson, who each chipped in two.

Port Hope was unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Napanee eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Wayne Fryer recorded 28 saves for the Panthers. Port Hope incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Raiders incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
