Amherstview wins tough contest against Port Hope, 6-4Jack Burger Sports Complex Fri, Feb 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Amherstview Jets escaped with a 6-4 victory over the Port Hope Panthers. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Nic Pascoal at 5:37 of the third period. Jake Hulton was all over the ice for Amherstview, as he had two goals in the win. Hulton scored at 50 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 8:32 into the first to make the score 2-1 Amherstview. Amherstview additionally got points from Brandon Gilmour, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Dan Chadwick, who also tallied two goals and one assist, and Pascoal, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Amherstview came via Jesse Stone, who had one, Cody Stapley, who had two, and Taylor Brown, who had three. Port Hope put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jets to score on any of their three power plays. The Panthers' offense rang up 36 shots on Amherstview's net. Port Hope was helped by Logan Arsenault, who finished with one goal. Arsenault scored on the power play 16:47 into the second period to make the score 4-4. The Panthers had gained a power play chance when Stone was whistled for tripping. Nick Clark picked up the assist. Port Hope also got a goal from Connor Lowry as well. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Josh Fagan, who had two and Jacob Spicer, Keifer Macinnis, Shawn Mackie, and Brandon Yorke, who each chipped in one. Troy Paquette recorded 32 saves for the Jets. Amherstview incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Port Hope took out Colin Goody after he had made 12 saves and installed Wayne Fryer in goal, where he finished with 10 saves and the loss. The Panthers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
