Bruni's hat trick boosts Amherstview over Campbellford, 7-4

Cassidy Bruni netted a hat trick to lead the Amherstview Jets over the Campbellford Rebels, 7-4.

Bruni got on the scoresheet 13:45 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:41 into the second and at 12:21 into the second.

Campbellford's power play was ineffective against Amherstview's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The the Jets penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and three majors for 41 minutes in penalty time. Amherstview surpassed its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. The Jets stifled the Rebels' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Amherstview forced Campbellford goalie Cole Mahoney to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Jets found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Amherstview averages 4.2 goals per game.

Amherstview also got points from Chad McCutcheon, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Amherstview included Jake Hulton, who had one and Dan Chadwick, who had two. In addition, Amherstview received assists from Liam Vanburen, who had two, Cody Stapley, who had three, and Sam Paxton, Brandon Gilmour, Brody Taylor, and Rhys Webster, who each chipped in one.

The Rebels racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time. Campbellford had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Jets were unable to stop the Rebels from sending pucks towards the net, and Campbellford eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. The Rebels' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in three goals to Amherstview's power play unit.

Campbellford was helped by Kenny Turcotte, who registered two goals and one assist. Turcotte scored the first of his two goals at 12:33 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Amherstview. Tim Pandachuck picked up the assist. Turcotte's next tally made the score 5-4 Amherstview with 6:46 left in the third period. Pandachuck provided the assist. Campbellford additionally got points from Jon Samis, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Hunter Fargey, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Campbellford were Ryan Crowley and Seamus McDougall, who contributed one a piece.

Troy Paquette made 29 saves for the Jets on 33 shots. Team's Hulton, Dustin Kennedy, and Adam Alcorn were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Mahoney recorded 30 saves for the Rebels. For Campbellford, Josh Adams and Mitch Gibson were ejected from the contest.
