Amherstview rolls over Campbellford, 5-1

The Amherstview Jets were firing on all cylinders against the Campbellford Rebels, and when the final buzzer sounded Jets emerged with a 5-1 win.

Campbellford was stymied by Amherstview netminder Troy Paquette, who stopped 53 shots during the victory. Paquette certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.61 entering the contest.

The Rebels' power play was ineffective against the Jets' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Amherstview's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Campbellford power plays. The Jets forced Campbellford goalie Cole Mahoney to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Amherstview's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Jets finished with 30 penalty minutes.

Amherstview was helped by Jake Hulton, who had one goal. Hulton scored on the power play 7:37 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Amherstview. The Jets had gained a power play chance when Chris Klompmaker was whistled for hooking. Liam Vanburen picked up the assist. Amherstview also got a goal from Sam Paxton as well. More assists for Amherstview came via Brody Taylor, Cassidy Bruni, and Adam Alcorn, who each chipped in one and Mark Christensen and Cody Stapley, who contributed two a piece.

The Rebels could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Campbellford puts an average of 4.8 pucks into the net per game. The Rebels' offense rang up 54 shots on Amherstview's net. Campbellford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Rebels were led by Josh Adams, who scored the team's only goal. Adams scored 6:38 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Amherstview. Mitch Gibson provided the assist.

The Jets registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Mahoney rejected 29 shots on goal for Campbellford.
