Port Hope vanquishes Campbellford in shootout, 4-3 (3-2 SO)Empire Jr. C Fri, Dec 14, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Port Hope Panthers defeated the Campbellford Rebels in a shootout 4-3 (3-2 SO). The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Campbellford got shootout goals from Josh Adams and Hunter Fargey. Port Hope also got shootout goals from Dalton Lawrence and Ryan Hickey.The Panthers overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Port Hope was down 2-0 after a goal by the Rebels' Jon Samis at 6:27 in the first period. The Panthers tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Dan Lagrois at 16:13 in the third period. Port Hope's penalty kill excelled, as the Panthers gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. Port Hope stifled Campbellford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Panthers kept the Rebels' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cole Mahoney made 43 saves on 47 shots. Lawrence also scored for Port Hope. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Hickey, who had two and Ryan DeGuerre, Jacob Spicer, Calibe Oliver, and Shawn Mackie, who each chipped in one. Port Hope was unable to stop Campbellford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rebels eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Campbellford managed to stay out of the box for the most part, tallying just one major for 15 minutes in penalty time. Campbellford also got a goal from Ryan Crowley as well. Other players who recorded assists for Campbellford were Fargey, who had two and Tim Pandachuck, Kenny Turcotte, and Andy Paul (APM), who contributed one a piece. The Panthers' Wayne Fryer stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Port Hope incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Panthers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and DeGuerre was ejected from the game. For the Rebels, Tyler McKown was ejected from the game.
