Stapley's hat trick boosts Amherstview over Port Hope, 6-3

A hat trick by Cody Stapley was the highlight in Jets' 6-3 win against the Port Hope Panthers.

Stapley's first goal came 2:25 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:21 into the first and at 17:02 into the second.

The Amherstview Jets forced Port Hope goalie Keaton Dillon to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Amherstview's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Amherstview additionally got points from Liam Vanburen, who also racked up two goals and two assists. Brandon Gilmour also scored for Amherstview. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Rhys Webster and Alex Wilson, who contributed one a piece.

The Jets were unable to stop the Panthers from sending pucks towards the net, and Port Hope eventually piled up 54 shots on goal.

The Panthers were helped by Dan Lagrois, who tallied one goal. Lagrois scored 16:15 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Amherstview. Shawn Mackie assisted on the tally. Port Hope also got points from Kyle Sullivan, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Port Hope also got a goal from Brad Heykoop as well. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Dalton Lawrence, Ryan Hickey, and Ryan Wilkinson, who each chipped in one.

James DAndrea rejected 51 shots on goal for Amherstview. The Jets incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For Amherstview, Brody Taylor was ejected from the game. Dillon recorded 35 saves for Port Hope. The Panthers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
