Amherstview holds on for 4-3 win against CampbellfordEmpire Jr. C Sun, Dec 02, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Campbellford Rebels tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Amherstview Jets would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3. Amherstview made the score 4-0 on a goal by Alex Wilson at 47 seconds in the second period, and Campbellford got as close as 4-3 when Hunter Fargey scored 19:06 into the third period. The Rebels' power play was ineffective against the Jets' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Amherstview racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Jets had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game. Amherstview's offense rang up 47 shots on Campbellford's net. The Jets were helped by Cassidy Bruni, who registered one goal. Bruni scored 18:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Amherstview. Nic Pascoal picked up the assist. Dan Chadwick also scored for Amherstview. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Brett Yake, Brandon Gilmour, Liam Vanburen, Cody Stapley, and Adam Alcorn, who contributed one a piece. The Jets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Chadwick was ejected from the game. Cole Mahoney rejected 43 shots on goal for the Rebels. Campbellford ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For the Rebels, Clarke was ejected from the game.
