Campbellford boosted by Mahoney's play in net, beats Picton 2-1

Cole Mahoney had a standout game with 32 saves, and the Campbellford Rebels beat the Picton Pirates 2-1.

Campbellford's penalty kill excelled, as the Rebels gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Campbellford was paced by Connor Turland, who tallied one goal. Turland scored on the power play 4:01 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Campbellford. A slashing penalty on Evan Greer had put the Rebels on the power play. Jon Samis assisted on the tally.

Campbellford stifled Picton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Rebels could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Campbellford puts an average of 5.1 pucks into the net per game. The Pirates were unable to stop the Rebels from sending pucks towards the net, and Campbellford eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The Rebels could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Campbellford also got a goal from Alex Laclerc (APM) as well. Other players who recorded assists for Campbellford were Ryan Crowley and Josh Adams, who contributed one a piece.

Picton was held below its usual level of production. The Pirates average 5.0 goals per game. Picton forced Campbellford goalie Mahoney to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Pirates struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 20 penalty minutes for four opposing power plays.

Picton was led by Levi George, who scored the team's only goal. George scored 8:16 into the second period to make the score 1-1.

Adam Wood recorded 32 saves for the Pirates. Picton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Sizer was ejected from the game.
