Sizer's big game bests Amherstview in 6-1 Picton win

Ryan Sizer was all over the ice for the Picton Pirates, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Picton's 6-1 win over the Amherstview Jets.

Sizer scored 16:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Picton. Mitchell Smith picked up the assist. Sizer dished an assist on Jack Davison's goal that made the score 3-1 Picton at 3:29 into the third period. He added another helper on Smith's goal that made the score 4-1 Picton at 5:58 into the third period.

The Pirates' Adam Wood was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. Wood managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.49 prior to the game.

Picton kept Amherstview's goalie busy throughout the game, and Troy Paquette made 26 saves on 32 shots.

Picton additionally got points from Davison, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Evan Greer, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Smith, who also racked up two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Levi George also scored for Picton. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Brandon Peever and Cole Bolton, who each chipped in one.

The Jets were held below their usual level of production. Amherstview puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game.

The Jets were led by Brandon Gilmour, who scored the team's only goal. Gilmour scored 5:54 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Cassidy Bruni provided the assist.

The Pirates totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Picton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Dekeyser was ejected from the game. Amherstview totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For the Jets, Jake Hulton was ejected from the game.
