Huge game by Sizer boosts Picton over Port Hope, 6-3

Behind a great game by Ryan Sizer, who had two goals and one assist, the Picton Pirates defeated the Port Hope Panthers, 6-3.

Sizer found the back of the net 1:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Picton and again while 5:00 into the first to make the score 2-0 Picton.

Port Hope's power play was ineffective against Picton's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Pirates made Panthers' goaltenders to work in net, launching 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Colin Goody made six stops and Branson Schell made 22. Picton found itself short handed often, totaling 34 penalty minutes and allowing 11 power plays.

Picton additionally got points from Levi George, who also grabbed two goals and one assist and Evan Greer, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Jack Davison also scored for Picton. More assists for Picton came via Cole Bolton, who had three and Brandon Peever, Kenny Murduff, and Mitchell Smith, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers kept the Pirates' goalie busy throughout the game, and Adam Wood made 43 saves on 46 shots.

Port Hope was helped by Shawn Mackie, who registered one goal. Mackie scored on the power play 16:16 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Picton. The Panthers earned a power play opportunity when Riley McGuire was put in the box for hooking. Brandon Yorke assisted on the tally. Port Hope also got a goal from Jacob Spicer as well. In addition, Port Hope received assists from Kyle Sullivan, Brad Heykoop, Josh Fulford, Logan Arsenault, and Ryan Wilkinson, who contributed one a piece.

Picton registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Port Hope incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
