Campbellford survives Picton comeback, wins 5-3Prince Edward Thu, Nov 15, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Picton Pirates almost clawed their way back from a four-goal deficit, but the Campbellford Rebels managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end. Campbellford led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Rebels' Hunter Fargey's scored on the power play at 6:19 in the second period to put Campbellford up 4-0. The Rebels forced Picton's goalies to work between the pipes, finishing with 47 shots and forcing 42 saves. Andrew Pearson made 19 stops and Adam Wood made 23. Campbellford was helped by Josh Adams, who had two goals. Adams scored the first of his two goals at 10:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Campbellford. Tyler Daveys assisted on the tally. Adams' next tally made the score 2-0 Campbellford with 7:36 left in the first period. Seamus McDougall picked up the assist. Campbellford also got a goal from Steven Clarke as well. More assists for Campbellford came via Ryan Crowley, Mitch Burkitt, Dylan Baxter, and Tim Pandachuck, who each chipped in one. The Pirates were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and two majors for 22 minutes in penalty time. Picton surpassed its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. The Pirates' offense rang up 33 shots on the Rebels' net. Picton's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. The Pirates average 2.5 goals allowed per game. Picton was helped by Ryan Sizer, who grabbed two goals. Sizer scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:50 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Campbellford. The Pirates had gained a power play chance when Crowley was whistled for high sticking. Jack Davison assisted on the tally. Sizer's next tally on the power play made the score 4-3 Campbellford with 7:34 left in the third period. Levi George picked up the assist. Picton also got points from George, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Picton were Brandon Peever, who had two. Cole Mahoney recorded 30 saves for Campbellford. The Rebels totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. For Campbellford, Grant Fry was ejected from the game. Picton registered two goals on five power play opportunities. For the Pirates, Cole Bolton and Jeremiah Doherty were ejected from the contest.
